Professor Daisuke Yabe is Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Nutrition at Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine, and Vice President of Kyoto University Hospital, Japan. His research centers on the pathophysiology of type 2 diabetes in Asian populations, with a particular focus on diabetes self-management education and medical nutrition therapy. He has made notable contributions to advancing understanding of incretin secretion and action, as well as the clinical efficacy and safety of anti-diabetes agents in real-world practice. His laboratory further investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying pancreatic β-cell proliferation, differentiation, and incretin biology, with the goal of developing curative strategies for diabetes. In addition to his active engagement in basic and clinical research, Professor Yabe is deeply committed to diabetes care and education. He has served on the Executive Board of the International Diabetes Federation Western Pacific Region and on the Asian Association for the Study of Diabetes. In Japan, he plays leading roles in the Japan Association for Diabetes Education and Care and the Japan Diabetes Society, contributing to international collaboration, scientific advancement, and public communication in diabetes. Professor Yabe’s contributions have been recognized with multiple honors, including the Masato Kasuga Award from the Asian Association for the Study of Diabetes, the William Cullen Award from the Japan Association for Diabetes Education and Care, and the Albireo Award from the Japan Society of Metabolism and Clinical Nutrition.

This is mostly due to excess cardiovascular events.
This presentation will discuss options for lowering cardiovascular and renal risk in people with type 2 diabetes.Managing Hyperglycaemia in Patients Receiving Immune Checkpoint InhibitorsIt is estimated that >20% of people treated with Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors (ICI) for their cancer will experience new or worsening hyperglycaemia.
This presentation will discuss the differential diagnoses for the cause of hyperglycaemia in people treated with ICI and treatment strategies
