Traditional pharmacological treatments for precocious puberty are often associated with numerous adverse reactions. This study aims to investigate the protective effects of various dominant intestinal flora on the onset of precocious puberty and to identify new therapeutic targets.
A large-scale Mendelian Randomization (MR) study was conducted to explore the potential causal relationship between the abundance of 1,609 types of intestinal flora and the occurrence of precocious puberty.
Our findings indicate that intestinal flora from the genus Gordonibacter, belonging to the order Coriobacteriales, family Coriobacteriaceae, class Actinobacteria, and phylum Actinobacteria exhibits a protective effect against precocious puberty (P < 0.05).
The results from our MR study suggest that specific intestinal flora may serve as novel therapeutic targets for managing precocious puberty, thereby enriching intervention strategies.
